Founded in 1990 as an independent affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, San Gabriel Valley Habitat for Humanity (SGVHFH) seeks to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action while eliminating poverty housing and homelessness from the San Gabriel Valley.
We build the homes with the “sweat equity” of our family partner homeowners who work side-by-side with volunteers. Each year thousands of volunteers from faith institutions, corporations, schools and civic groups come to build with us and learn more about how to help solve local affordable housing problems.
SGV Habitat is working toward the goal of completing its 75th home in the San Gabriel Valley. In addition to homebuilding, SGV Habitat’s home repair programs assist at least 10 low-income homeowner families each year. Over 350 low-income men, women, and children are living in decent, affordable housing built or repaired by our local affiliate.
SGVHFH engages the community to volunteer time, talent, money and donated materials to build affordable housing. All areas of society–individuals, faith organizations, businesses and other agencies–can get involved. Join us!
SGV Habitat offers eligible low-income families the opportunity for affordable homeownership which promotes good health, better educational outcomes and family stability.
Home Repair programs provide low-income families who own and occupy their homes with sorely-needed exterior home repair services.
SGV Habitat for Humanity is a 501(c)(3) California nonprofit corporation.
