Ready for Life works with youth aging out of the foster care system and assists them in reaching their full potential.
Approximately 100 youth “Age Out” of foster care each year in Pinellas County. Services and support are terminated and the youth are left with the challenge of finding education, employment and housing options while developing life skills on their own. Not surprisingly, the research that exists on outcomes for foster care alumni shows that these youth are at a higher risk for homelessness, unemployment, illness, incarceration, welfare dependency, and sexual and physical victimization than their peers. RFL also works with approximately 250 youth from 18 to 24 years of age and assists them with employment readiness, education, tutoring, obtaining affordable housing, transportation, mentoring, life skills, leadership skills and so much more.
