Conservation through Cooperation

The Pennsylvania Environmental Council (PEC) is one of the most respected voices in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for practical, responsible environmental policy, such as the Clean Streams Act of 1970 and the PA Climate Change Act of 2008. As a result of PEC's strong advocacy, Pennsylvanians enjoy healthier streams, greener communities and a safer environment.

Since 1970, Pennsylvania residents, businesses, communities and policy makers have turned to PEC for solutions to environmental challenges.Through our collaborative and innovative approach involving thousands of partners and donors, we build sustainable communities, and protect water and land.

PEC also improves the environment through on-the-ground- projects. We believe that by developing land and water trails, cleaning up streams and degraded lands, and advising municipalities, we expose more citizens to Pennsylvania's natural resources, and we foster a new generation of environmental stewards.

We believe in the Promise of Pennsylvania—having the Commonwealth as an environmental and conservation leader. It is a promise that includes benefits for human health, the economy, and the quality of life for everyone who lives, works and visits here—while still protecting the environmental and conservation values that so many of us hold dear. That promise is our legacy. We hope that you will join us in achieving it.
